About

Jean Piat

Jean Piat

Honorary member of the Comédie-Française, Jean Piat had an important career on stage and behind the curtain. He embodied Robert d’Artois in the television adaptation of Maurice Druon’s Les Rois Maudits in 1972 and Cyrano from Cyrano de Bergerac in the seventies. His deep and powerful voice made him successful in the dubbing sector. He was the French voice of Ian Mckellen for Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and played Scar in The Lion King and Judge Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

After his triumph on stage in 2014 for Ensemble et séparément by Françoise Dorin, he gave to his audience his Pièces d’identité, where he discussed his major roles, his favourite authors, artists and important events of his rich career. Jean Piat was one of the exceptional figures of the French scene.

In La Nuit aux Invalides, he embodies Louvois’ Eye, architect of the Invalides and speaks for the sixty oeil-de-boeuf windows of the courtyard, in order to push the landmark to vibrate in harmony with its own history.
